When Leo Ordoñez donned safety glasses, a yellow vest, and hearing protection for his Mfg Day 2023 tour of ABB Installation Products, the Jimmy Carter Middle School 8th-grader understood this was not an ordinary field trip.
Ordoñez and his classmates learned firsthand about the products used to connect, ground, splice, terminate, and protect underground power cables that are essential for the delivery of reliable power to homes and businesses. The students heard from long-time company employees about what they like most about their jobs and how they started their careers.
Ordoñez was one of almost 400 students who toured manufacturing facilities at Manufacturing Day events that took place throughout October and into November.
With the help of companies that welcomed students on tours of their facilities, together we are building New Mexico’s manufacturing workforce!
