Manufacturing Day 2023

Mfg Day 2023 outgrew the confines of October and pushed into the first half of November to accommodate the nearly 400 students interested in touring manufacturing facilities. In addition to tours, events included live and virtual presentations that supported startup and established manufacturing companies by offering resources and advice.

  • SEIA Happy Hour with Unirac. Monday, September 25, 4:30 – 6:30 pm at 111 Lomas Blvd. NW, Suite 103 in Albuquerque ~ Celebrate solar energy and network with solar industry professionals; learn about the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and its New Mexico affiliate Renewable Energy Industries Association (REIA) of NM.
  • Open House & Job Fair at Array Technologies.  Friday, September 29, 3:00 – 5:00 pm at 3901 Midway Pl NE in Albuquerque ~ Bring your resume and be ready to interview.
  • Greater Northwest Region Manufacturer and Resource Presentations and Virtual Networking. Tuesday, October 10, 1:00 – 2:30 pm, Virtual ~ Learn more about what’s happening in New Mexico’s Northwest region; hear from companies and the resource providers that assist our businesses and communities.
  • Open House and Tours at The Big Idea Makerspace. Thursday, October 12, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at San Juan College, 5101 College Boulevard in Farmington ~ Located in the Quality Center for Business at San Juan College.
  • Public Tours of Valencia Flour Mill. Tuesday, October 17, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm at 74 Mill Road in Jarales (near Belen) ~ See antique milling machines turn New Mexican-grown grain into flour for modern specialty mixes such as Valencia Sopaipilla & Fry Bread Mix.
  • Manufacturing Panel Discussion and Career Fair. Wednesday, October 18 at CNM Brasher Hall in Albuquerque ~ 1:30 pm panel discussion with manufacturers, including representatives from Maxeon, General Mills, Intel, and 3D Glass Solutions, Inc.(3DGS); followed at 3:00 pm by a career fair, where potential candidates will have the chance to network and connect with employers.
  • Student Tours of four Sandia Science & Technology Park resident companies, including Rocket Lab, BioFlyte, BlueHalo, and Industrial Inspection & Analysis. Wednesday, October 18 in Albuquerque ~ For students of Technology Leadership High School.
  • Student Tours of Glass-Rite and UNM COSMIAC Research Center. Wednesday, October 18 in Albuquerque ~ For students of ACE Leadership High School.
  • ABC Canvas Public Tours and Ribbon Cutting by Farmington Chamber of Commerce Red Coats. Thursday, October 19, 3:00 – 5:00 pm at 3220 Bloomfield Highway in Farmington
  • WESST Fest 6th Annual Pop-Up Shop at WESST Enterprise Center. Friday, October 20, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm at 609 Broadway NE in Albuquerque.
  • Guided Public Tours of ABB Installation Products. Tuesday, October 24 at 6625 Bluewater Road NW in Albuquerque ~ See underground cable connections and accessories being made for the electrical distribution grid that keeps our homes and businesses illuminated.
  • Student Tours of ABB Installation Products and Vitality Works. Tuesday, October 24 in Albuquerque ~ Private tours for 8th-grade MESA Program students of Jimmy Carter Middle School.
  • Student Tours of Clay Groomer Machine Shop. Wednesday, October 25 at 701 S. Carlton in Farmington ~ Private tours for students of the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Program at the School of Energy-San Juan College and San Juan College High School.
  • Open House at FUSE Makerspace at Central New Mexico College (CNM). Thursday, October 26, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm at 101 Broadway NE in Albuquerque ~ Tour the IoT / Rapid Prototyping BootCamp, see rapid prototyping in the Technology Solutions Labs, and watch a smart manufacturing demo.
  • Machine Tool Technology Information Session at CNM Main Campus West. Thursday, October 26, 6:00 – 7:30 pm in Albuquerque ~ Learn about the Machine Tool Technology certificate of completion and Associates of Applied Science. Tour the lab, speak with faculty and get help applying to CNM.
  • Manufacturing Jobs Info Session. Friday, October 27, 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the HEC in Santa Fe ~ See 21st-century advanced manufacturing and learn how to get a well-paying job in the field; see 3D Printing in action and learn about free trainings for Santa Fe residents to start a path to New Collar careers.
  • Make Santa Fe Tour and Info Session. Friday, October 27, 6:00 – 8:30 pm at 2879 All Trades Road in Santa Fe ~ Visit the maker space, see the tools that include 3D printers, plasma and laser cutters, woodworking equipment and more. Learn about membership.
  • Mizz Alyssa B’s 1st Annual Pinup Ghoul Contest & Howl of a Car Show. Sunday, October 29, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at 112 N Locke Ave in Farmington.
  • Women in Manufacturing Panel Discussion. November 1, 12:00 – 1:30 pm, Virtual ~ hosted by WESST and New Mexico MEP. Women panelists discuss their experiences with starting a business, purchasing a business, managing a household while running a business, and other issues female entrepreneurs face.
  • Santa Fe Spirits Product Launch. Friday, November 3 in Santa Fe ~ Join Santa Fe Spirits at its downtown Santa Fe tasting room, 308 Read Street, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm to celebrate its first Bottled-in-Bond release of Colkegan Single Malt Whiskey. The Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 stipulates that whiskeys designed Bottled-in-Bond must be produced at the same distillery by the same distiller within the same distilling season and then aged for at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse under federal government supervision.
  • Student Tours of Exhib-It!  and BennuBio. Monday, November 13 in Albuquerque. ~ Private tour for students of Explore Academy.
  • Student Tours of Insight Lighting, Lectrosonics, and MEP Automation Lab. Wednesday, November 15 in Albuquerque. ~ Private tours for 11th grade students of Hiroshi Miyamura High School in Gallup.
  • Student Tours of FUSE Makerspace and CNM Machine Tool Lab.  Wednesday, November 15 in Albuquerque. ~ Private tours for 9th grade students of Hiroshi Miyamura High School in Gallup.

“Fringe” Events are those that take place before typical October Manufacturing Day celebrations. In 2023, they included these events.

  • Monday, April 3 and April 17, Bloomfield ~ Career Day at Naaba Ani Elementary School with presentations by area companies.
  • Wednesday, August 16, 1:00 – 2:00 pm, Aztec ~ Aztec High School Mentoring Program private student event with local outdoor business Desert Guides.
